Well before the days of Governor Hogg times were somewhat tough
And if you didn't own yourself a farm, to survive you might live rough
Like Sam Bass before him Brack turned to the life of crime
Like Texas's favorite Bandit, Brack never did no time.
It was 1888 when Brack met Bill Whitley's gang
They began to robbin banks & trains hoping not to hang

The adrenaline starts flowing as the train is slowin down
Steam hissing from the engine, tracks screeching on the ground
Jump on the running boards with the rest of the gang
Yelling loud "Hit the floor" and the guns go bang bang bang
Brack’s gang hit big, 25 grand at a Cisco bank
Then 20 more from a train, the boys now had a rank
They figured Southern Pacific would be their final date
It would be all they needed; they could retire and go straight
Well outside of Harwood Station they were gonna stop the train
Get the cash, jump on their rides across the open plain.

Well on September 22 Brack's gang was betrayed
A painted lady named Betty went to the law and displayed
How the boys were gonna do it - every detail was revealed
So a Marshall and some Rangers rode on board concealed.
The law stopped the robbery, but they couldn’t stop old Brack
He rode west to Flatonia and robbed a train right on the track.

The law tracked them since Harwood; old Brack and Bill didn’t know
They all met up in Floresville, the 25th was the show
Guns all stared shooting, they shot Bill Whitley dead
But Brack escaped on horseback, to Arizona so it’s said.
Outside the town of Frio Brack was shot by Alfred Allee
He took Brack from this earth but not from our memory.
